Gardens Across Europe

100 packets of sunflower seeds were posted to recipients across Europe, the majority being in the UK and Ireland, some seeds were posted to those who responded to a Facebook posting requesting that I send them the seeds if they send me an address. The action was inspired by the death of my father who had given me sunflowers to grow. After I lost him I planted 100 sunflowers both tall and short in our garden. I took the policy that every seed that germinated should survive. It was a cathartic exercise that I wanted to share – this year the seeds of my father’s memorial falls into the hands of many people. I struggled to keep them standing in the strong coastal winds.

I made envelopes for each recipient and sent photographs with some. Each envelope/letter differed.
